Our products, oils and ingredients have not been tested on animals, however, have most definitely gone through extensive human and safety testing. End of 2020 Subtle Energies will have entered the Chinese market, long known for compulsory animal testing, however we are entering as part of 1 of only 3 initial brands to have been accepted in a pilot project by Cruelty Free International, in collaboration with regulatory officials in China to be one of the first brands to be certified Cruelty Free in China. Cruelty Free International has done phenomenal work in developing this landmark pilot project. This pilot project not only provides a genuine pathway for us to offer our family’s work in luxury natural skincare and wellness to China without any animal testing, but it also comes with the crucial assurance that the brand is not exposed to any post-market animal testing once the brand hits the market. The project has already made an impact and broader changes are being considered in China. Together with Cruelty Free International we look forward to raising awareness and showcasing results-driven Cruelty Free skincare in China.
All Subtle Energies products have expiry dates on them and some products have a longer shelf life than others. As environmental factors can affect the product, always ensure they are stored in a cool, dry space with the cap tightly secured.
All products are made in Australia, following European standards of natural skincare to create safe, ethical and effective products.
We do not add any parabens, use any mineral oils, silicones or artificial fragrances or colours in our products.
None of our oil blends contain any preservative as the essential oils act as preserving agents themselves. Most of our skincare uses Honeysuckle extract as a preservative.
Honeysuckle extract has anti-microbial properties and has been approved for use in Europe by all the certified natural bodies, such as BDIH, Ecocert and Natrue. There has been some argument in relation to honeysuckle extract on the internet as to whether it is considered a paraben or natural paraben. It has been incorrectly stated in some articles that it contains parahydroxybenozoic acid, also known as 4-hydroxybenzoic, which they state acts as a natural paraben. Honeysuckle extract actually contains 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is salicylic acid. This is not a natural paraben, but rather is a natural defense system found in many plants to protect them from disease.
In a few instances some of our preservatives used in the body care ranges are nature identical, that is, they exist in nature but are replicated in a lab as the natural ingredient cannot be used sustainably. The European standards and all the certified natural bodies such as BDIH, Ecocert and Natrue allow the use of these ingredients and they have no therapeutic purpose and are purely used for their safe preserving qualities. The highest percentage of any one of these preservatives used is 0.15 - 0.4%. Our body lotions, shampoo, conditioner, body washe and body scrub currently use this preservative system.

Most Subtle Energies products are safe for use during pregnancy, with the exception of Muscle Ease Massage Blend and Muscle Ease Foot Soak during your first trimester. It is always better to be cautious in your first trimester and we often get asked, “what about my skincare regime?”. You are fine to continue your skincare regime but we do generally recommend the Soothe & Enrich range during pregnancy or the early stages, as it is packed with antioxidants and is ultra cooling. Together with with this skin care range, our With Mum in Mind range of signature oil blends for the body, combines high quality unique oils with a carefully formulated natural skincare base specifically created for the three stages of pregnancy. In addition to the pregnancy blends, we also have a strengthening oil for the little one called the Baby Massage Blend.
Generally speaking our products are well-tolerated, however if you have specific concerns please do not hesitate to contact us directly and we can give you more details of what may be suitable.
However, always do consult with your physician and medical practitioner for any health concerns.

Almost all of our products are 100% vegan, except our Rose Petal Lip Balm which is the stick version. This has an ethically sourced bees wax in it. We do have a Vegan option which is the 15gm jar version of our lip balm. The sleep easy nasya oils also do go through a process with milk, although the milk is processed out of the final product.
Our bees wax is ethically sourced, and consumed in small batches, as well as being organic. In Australia, it is under strict regulation of how it can be obtained. The keeper who we obtain this from only takes the excess wax and uses the funds from the sale of the wax to repopulate bees in areas outside of his region.

Subtle Energies uses many organic ingredients especially within the base of the product. Our primary goal is the therapeutic nature of the active ingredient, where in some cases organic is not always the most potent. Example, a wild harvested plant produces a higher content of certain compounds of an essential oil than an organic plant due to the wild variety requiring stronger defences than the more happier organic plants would. Our chemists follow the European standards of certified natural and have been industry recognised and judged in this space well.
For us the purity of the oil, the extraction, the sustainability, the intent and intent of the distillers, and the therapeutics are the priority for us.

The essential oils in our products are safe to wear in the sun. None of our essential oils will create a photo toxic issue for your skin. Our Relax Body Blend does have a minute amount of bergamot essential oils so if you are a bit hesitant about photo-toxicity then we would recommend avoid using that blend.
Also, please note that we do not have any products that we use as sun protection, however, we can recommend a list of products to assist in repairing skin after-sun exposure. Again please do seek professional medical assistance first for any health concern.
